Dear all,

Fitting to a rather short newsletter, here comes a rather short introduction.

First of all, I would like to congratulate Nils Halberg and Jim Lorens for having received funding from the Cancer society. That’s well deserved, and I am looking to seeing more cool research happing in your groups!

Next, I would like to congratulate our colleague Prof. Eystein Jansen, a climate researcher at the Department of Earth Science here, for having been elected as vice-president of the European Research Council (ERC). This is a large honour and I wish him the best of luck for his aim of ensuring that ground-breaking basic research gets its important place in the research landscape!

Good luck also to everybody who has applied for ERC starting grants, innovation calls from the RCN or other calls! Fingers-crossed that you will receive funding to put your exiting research plans into action.

Many might not know that we are part the European “Integrated Services for Infectious Disease Outbreak Research” network (ISIDORe). ISIDORe provides free of charge access to cutting-edge resources and services to support research projects in the field of infectious diseases in “peace time” as well as during outbreaks, epidemics or pandemics. Do you need specific research services, tools or resources to advance your research in infectious diseases? If yes, check out their webpage: ISIDORe project: services for infectious disease outbreak research (isidore-project.eu)

Have a nice and productive week
