CEDAS, the Center for Data Science at UiB (UiB.no/cedas), and NORBIS, the national research school in bioinformatics, biostatistics and systems biology (norbis.w.UiB.no), are preparing a joint summer school for starting as well as for experienced data scientists, especially for graduate (and undergraduate) students, PhD candidates, and PostDocs. We anticipate having this 4 or 5 days summer school on selected topics in data science in (or near) Bergen, likely during August 2023. Given the increasing relevance of data science in modern science and applications, we are excited about this upcoming summer school, the lessons to learn, and the new connections to form between the participants.

PhD grant writing workshop
The Faculty of Medicine invites all PhD-candidates to a workshop on «How to write a successful grant proposal».
The workshop will enable PhD-candidates in medicine and sciences to start early with their future research project. Participants will gain insight into the international funding landscape and develop hands-on knowledge by working on their own project proposal.
Target audience: PhD-candidates enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine who want to kick-start their academic career in the nearest future.

Tuition fees for international students: Is the University of Bergen ready?
Tuition fees will be introduced for international master students from August 2023. The aim of this meeting is to put focus on the topic, and discuss the challenges at UiB.
