Dear all;

Happy New Year to all!

UiB, NTNU and UiO have purchased a new booking system (BookitLab), to be used in core facilities and laboratories at the universities. From January 1st, the first 4 core facilities at our Medical Faculty (MIC, PROBE, BiSS and Flow Cytometry) started to use this system.

BookitLab collects project information directly from our economy system Unit4 during registering of new projects. The project leaders must contact their project economist, who will set up the individual projects (including budget limits and user access). Finally, the Administrative Leaders will approve the project, and then users are ready to book!

So far, the transition from old to new booking system has gone very well! In case you have questions, contact mic@uib.no.

Every year, The Medical Faculty is awarding prizes within research, innovation and teaching. See also information sent by email to all employees at IBM on January 11th. If you have suggestions for nominations, please send this with a justification to Anne Mette Søviknes, latest on Friday January 20th.

Finally, I would like to draw your attention to some of the current funding calls. Funding is available for young national and international candidates with outstanding academic merits and research potential, through a TMS Starting Grant from Trond Mohn Foundation (application deadline March 8th). The Foundation Kristian Gerhard Jebsen calls for proposals for funding two new K.G. Jebsen Centres for Medical Research this year, with application deadline May 8th. You can contact Marion Kusche Gullberg and Anne Mette Søviknes for more information, in addition to the TMS and K.G. Jebsen web pages.

DIGI emnepakken våren 2023

Bygg digital forståelse kunnskap og kompetanse i temaer som kunstig intelligens, personvern, IKT-sikkerhet, programmering og algoritmer, og forståelse og bruk av data. Undervisningen i de seks 2,5-studipoengs DIGI emnene gis av forskere og fagfolk fra ulike, relevante fagmiljøer ved UiB, og er tilpasset studenter som ikke kjenner fagområdet fra før.
Som student trenger du ingen forkunnskaper for disse emnene. Undervisningen foregår på ettermiddag og kveld, slik at den ikke kolliderer med øvrig undervisning, og vurderes som bestått/ikke bestått.

Small Animal MRI Course

MIC is happy to announce a basic course in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of small animals, with the aim of giving the participants knowledge on the principles, the theory and practical use of MRI.
The theoretical part of the course will cover multimodal imaging and the theoretical aspects of MRI. The participants will get hands on practical training on the instruments in the practical part and learn about basic image analysis of MR images.
After the course, the participants should be able to understand how to plan and perform MRI experiments on small animals.

Hittil har brukere med UiB-konto som bruker Eduroam i Helse Bergen sine bygg fått en adresse tilhørende UiB’s nettverk, og har dermed kunnet bruke UiBs tjenester og nett-ressurser uten videre.
Helse Vest IKT faser nå ut denne løsningen med virkning fra 11.1.2023.
Konsekvens: UiB-brukere (ansatte og studenter) må etter dette bruke VPN for å få tilgang til UiB-ressurser. Eduroam-forbindelse hos Helse Bergen vil «kun» gi internett på lik linje med et privat hjemmenettverk.

Until now, users with a UiB account using Eduroam in Helse Bergen’s buildings, have been allocated an address belonging to UiB’s network, and have thus been able to use UiB’s services and online resources immediately.
Helse Vest IKT will be changing their network structure with effect from 11. January 2023.
After this, UiB users (employees and students) will have to use VPN to access UiB resources from these networks. Eduroam connection at Helse Bergen will «only» provide internet in the same way as a home network.

The course and workshop proposals call for Spring 2023 is OPEN. Deadline is January 19^th. This will be the last and final call for courses and workshops from NORBIS since the project end is September 2023. Therefore, courses we will support have to be arranged in the spring semester and August at the lates. The call is open to all partners and the maximum amount you can apply for in support is 60.000 NOK for courses and 50.000 for workshops. Travel support for PhD students is in addition.
NORBIS is a national research school in bioinformatics, biostatistics and systems biology.

Det er et kunnskapspolitisk mål å øke norsk deltagelse i Erasmus+ sentraliserte tiltak. Dette er tiltak for europeisk og internasjonalt samarbeid om utdanning, som fremmer kvalitet i undervisning og opplæring, innovasjon og kobling mellom utdanning og næringsliv. Sentraliserte tiltak administreres i Brussel av The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). North2north program 2023

North2north is the mobility program in the UArctic network. UiB sends one institutional application for n2n funding. UiB researchers and students can apply for support for visiting n2n partners. Units that wish to invite employees from North American and Scottish n2n partners can now also apply for support for incoming employees for the academic year 2023 – 2024. You cannot get an n2n scholarship if you already have funding from another mobility program (Erasmus, Norplus, etc.).
