Applying for academic jobs in Norway and abroad

The workshop will present a practical overview of the academic job application process, and tips and tricks on how to succeed in winning a job, especially in extremely competitive fields. The course will cover these topics: how to find job announcements; how to read job ads; how to prepare an application; how to write a cover letter; the hiring process in Norway and abroad; how to succeed in the interview and lecture; how to negotiate a job offer; how to persist through rejection.

Suggested preparation for the workshop: find a recent or current job ad for an academic position in your field or a related discipline, either in Norway (using jobbnorge.no) or abroad. Send a link or pdf of the ad to laura.miles@uib.no and/or have it available to share via chat at the workshop itself. The workshop will be held in English.
